What Lidding Film Actually Needs to Do
Lidding film has to form a reliable seal against a tray while also meeting whatever else the product demands — peelability, clarity, barrier protection, or freezer performance. No single film does all of these equally well, which is why matching film to application matters more than picking the most premium option available.
Peelable vs. Non-Peelable
Peelable lidding film is designed to separate cleanly from the tray without tearing or leaving residue — important for ready-to-eat food packaging where the end customer opens it by hand. Non-peelable film creates a stronger, more permanent seal, often used when the package will be cut open rather than peeled.
Matching Film to Tray Material
