Shrink Film FAQs (RS & X Shrink Film)

What’s the difference between RS Shrink Film and X Shrink Film?

  • RS Shrink Film = reliable, clean shrink, great everyday performance

  • X Shrink Film = premium performance and durability when you need a tougher film or tighter shrink

How do I choose the right shrink film gauge (thickness)?

Gauge depends on:

  • Product weight

  • Sharp edges vs smooth edges

  • How tight you want the shrink

  • Whether you need extra puncture resistance

Will your shrink film work with my current shrink wrapper?

Most likely, yes. Polyolefin shrink film is widely compatible.
To confirm, send:

  • Your current film specs (if available)

  • Your sealer type (L-bar, side sealer, etc.)

  • Your tunnel model and temp range

Why is my shrink film wrinkling, burning, or not shrinking tight?

This usually comes down to:

  • Tunnel temp too high/low

  • Airflow imbalance

  • Speed too fast/slow

  • Wrong gauge for the product

Can shrink film be used for food packaging?

Shrink film is commonly used for secondary packaging (bundling / overwrap).

What’s the difference between a sealer, tunnel, combo unit, and automatic shrink system?

  • Sealer: seals the film (usually first step)

  • Tunnel: applies heat to shrink film around product

  • Combo unit: sealer + tunnel in one footprint

  • Automatic system: higher output with less labor (best for scaling)

What’s the best shrink setup for low-to-mid volume packaging?

For most operations, a sealer + tunnel combo is the sweet spot:

  • Easy to run

  • Consistent packaging

  • Great ROI

What power do your machines require?

Depends on the model—many run on 110V or 220V.
